| | I crossed to Mongolia from China with some of the hostel friends I met in Beijing as part of the 2002-2003 Round-the-World trip.
It was totally unplanned that a Mongolian man should invite us to stay with his family in a traditional ger. What a delight! The Naadam Festival was also interesting (and a bit kitschy) and the trip down to Kharkhorin and meeting Lily-Marie, the effervescent nun in her 70s, was thoroughly memorable as well!
Special thanks to Jus, Tina, Goretti and Pablo for sharing this part of the journey with me! |

It's great to be a little unnerved by new countries, new experiences, new currencies, new languages, new food, new ways of doing the same things... I love it.
After plucking up the courage to resign from my job, from Singapore, I made my first hop to China, then north across to Mongolia and took the train through Russia. I then journeyed to Western Europe to meet up with some friends.
I flew across the Atlantic to Brazil next, before overlanding to Argentina and wandered up the length of Argentina and Chile up to Peru, being turning back to Buenos Aires, Argentina.
I headed to Mexico and made an unexpected stop in Cuba, then, I crossed the other large ocean mass, the Pacific, from Los Angeles in USA to the beautiful French Polynesian Islands. Then, it's off to HOME...
Gosh, had it been a year already!?!!
