|  | Taking a short break from work in early 2004, I headed to India and did a short 2-week volunteer work in Kundapura before taking the final week visiting some towns along the way back to Mumbai.
Although there is an Indian culture in Singapore, I originally had some apprehension about going to India. This was mainly because of bad reports from other female travellers who had been molested and leered at. However, while I did attract some attention, in the small villages, the locals were more than welcoming and friendly. Everyone was always smiling and ready to pose for photos. It was fantastic!
I feel India has to be visited in short spurts, exploring different regions each time, as there is so much to see and it is impossible to experience everything in one long trip. I look forward to returning again in the future. |
